About this free family story recorder

This tool turns your phone or laptop into a simple oral-history recorder. It puts warm, well-chosen interview questions on screen (about signature dishes, holiday tables, childhood meals, and the people behind them) and records the conversation right on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server: the audio never leaves your phone or computer unless you choose to send it somewhere yourself.

Why record instead of just taking notes? Because a transcript keeps the words, but a recording keeps the person — the laugh before the story, the pause where the memory lives. It pairs well with our free printable question list if you'd rather bring the questions to the table on paper.

Her voice today. A book on the shelf forever.

Family Crumbs turns stories like the ones you're recording into a real printed hardcover: the recipes and the memories behind them, collected from everyone you love, with copies from $79.
